Sunshine and Gratitude - Kitchener-Waterloo Sunflower Farm Family Photography
Do you ever have one of those moments or experiences with your family where you just step back and soak in how wonderful the moment is? You forget about any trouble that happened before, or worries you have about what’s ahead, and just savour the moment. There’s always so much to think about, so many distractions and worries. I’m really trying to be more present with my family and less in my head about all of it.
To that end, I headed out with my family to a huge local sunflower farm for some fun together, and I was so impressed by the beauty of the location and the gorgeousness of the day, with the sun poking out occasionally from behind the clouds, and the sunflowers so bright and cheerful against the sky. My kids were laughing with my husband, and I just took a minute and a deep breath and felt so very grateful. And then, out of somewhere deep in my brain, this song floated into my mind: “Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy…” It’s an old (sorry, classic) John Denver song, if you want to have a listen. (Also highly recommended: Sutton Foster’s beautiful rendition.)
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high
If I had a day that I could give you
I'd give to you a day just like today
If I had a song that I could sing for you
I'd sing a song to make you feel this way
If I had a tale that I could tell you
I'd tell a tale sure to make you smile
If I had a wish that I could wish for you
I'd make a wish for sunshine for all the while
Are you feeling “in the moment” these days? It’s not always easy, that’s for sure! Come on over to Facebook and let me know, or pop by Instagram and leave me a comment. I’d love to know what you’re doing to stay present with your family. I hope you've enjoyed a little post about my family. I've got a few great client sessions lined up to blog about in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
A note about the sunflower farm: I was really hoping to be able to do some client sessions there this summer! Unfortunately, the farm has closed unexpectedly early for the season, and isn’t likely to reopen to the public until 2021. But if you’re looking to get outside with your family and make some beautiful memories together, let’s go explore one of the many other beautiful spots our region has to offer!
