It’s Valentine’s Day, and love is in the air! No matter who your Valentine is, if you’ve got a sibling, you know that’s a special kind of love. Here are 6 reasons why your sibling will always be your Valentine.
1. They’re your first friend.
If you have an older sibling, they loved you even before you were born. They felt your kicks, talked to you, and eagerly awaited your arrival. If you have a younger sibling, they looked up to you from the moment they met you. You were their first playmate and their favourite role model. Older or younger, siblings teach you about true friendship before anyone else.
2. They’ve always got your back.
Not only are they your first friend, but they’re also your first partner in crime. Siblings are with you through thick and thin, through good ideas and wildly unsafe ideas in the name of fun and science! They’ll always support you and let you know you’re not alone.
3. They know how to make you laugh.
Siblings know all those inside family jokes that don’t make sense to anyone else. They understand, and probably share, your sense of humour. Even on your grumpiest day, they can get you to crack a smile. And when the laughs start, they go on and on!
4. They’re your greatest cheerleader.
Your sibling will encourage you to follow your passion, to chase your dreams, and to take risks even when you’re not sure of yourself. Since you took your very first steps, or since they took theirs, you’ve cheered each other on. You encourage, motivate, and support each other.
5. They teach you how to resolve conflicts.
If your first ideas of friendship came from your siblings, so did your first ideas of conflict. Fighting over toys, arguing over who broke the lamp, or just needing some space from each other, it’s all learning about how to resolve conflicts.
