An Event Full of Hope - Cambridge Terry Fox Run
Courage. Determination. Caring. Hope. When I think of Terry Fox, these are the qualities that come to mind. Terry Fox is a Canadian hero, and when the organizers of the Cambridge Terry Fox Run asked if I would volunteer to photograph the event, I was happy to accept!
It’s an honour to photograph people participating in an event that means so much to them. There were kids who’ve been participating almost their whole lives, people there for their first time, and people who’ve been volunteering and participating for more than 35 years!
It seemed like everywhere I looked, Terry’s qualities were there to be seen.
There was courage on the faces of kids participating in this event for the first time, proving to themselves they could do it.
There was determination in the people who have returned year after year, in celebration of someone who has won their battle with cancer, in memory of someone who has passed, and because they believe in Terry’s vision of a world without cancer.
There was caring shown by all of the volunteers who were tireless, enthusiastic, friendly, and gave hours and hours of their time to organize and run the event.
In the atmosphere of the whole event, there was hope in everyone who ran, biked, or walked because their lives had been touched in some way by cancer.
